This Scholarship was created by the Sustaining Members of the Wood County Democratic Party in memory of Dr. Thompson’s leadership as Wood County Democratic Chair for over 17 years, first president and active member, as well as being an educator in several school districts including Quitman ISD.

Dr. Thompson served as local, district and state legislative committee representative for the Texas Retired Teacher Association.  He has inspired generations of students and individuals to realize their full potential which would in turn improve their lives and the lives of the people around them.  It may be safe to say that Wood County is a little more prosperous thanks to him.
